The site
This site is run by Slamships Ltd, trading as Golf: The Journey, to tell you about the game and to take your email address if you want to hear more. Everything on it describes a game in development: features and dates can change before release, and screenshots show the build as it was on the day they were taken. Using the site means you accept these terms.
The game
Playing the game is covered by its own end user licence: what you may do with it, the free beta, cloud saves, buying through Steam or the app stores, and your rights as a consumer. Nothing on this page changes it.
The launch list
Joining the launch list means giving us your email address so we can write to you about Golf: The Journey: launch updates, the Steam page when it exists, the beta waves, the release date and the launch itself. That is all we use it for. We do not email you on anyone else’s behalf, we do not sell or rent the list, and every email has an unsubscribe link that works in one click.
- Use an address you are allowed to use. Please do not add somebody else, or an address you do not control.
- Asking to be a beta tester puts you on the list and tells us you are interested. Places are limited and chosen from the list, so a place in a wave is never guaranteed and is never sold. The beta itself is free.
- The list is for people aged 13 and over.
- We may close the list, change what we send or stop sending altogether. You can leave at any time, and leaving removes your record.
What joining can get you is set out in the launch offer below. What we do with your address is in the privacy policy.
The launch offer
If you join the launch list and finish the short “how you play” step with the same email address, we will put you on the list for the free beta and email you about a 40% launch discount on Steam. Here is exactly what that means, because it is worth being precise about.
Who qualifies
Anyone who has joined the launch list and completed that step, using the same email address for both. You need do nothing else, and there is nothing to pay.
The discount
- It is a discount off Steam’s own price for the game during the launch period, not a private code and not money from us. We will email everyone who opted in the day it goes live, with a link.
- The exact percentage, when it starts and when it ends are set at launch, and may differ by region where Steam’s rules require it. 40% is what we intend to run.
- There is no cash alternative, it cannot be transferred or sold, and it cannot be combined with another offer unless the store says otherwise.
- It applies to the Steam version only. The iPhone and Android versions are not discounted.
- You have to buy within the launch period to get it. Once that period ends, the price is the price.
The beta place
Beta places are limited and invitations go out in waves, so being on the list does not guarantee you a place in any particular wave, or at all. The beta is free, it is never sold, and it runs on Steam Playtest. What it is like to take part is covered by the game’s end user licence.
If it changes
We may change or withdraw this offer before launch, for example if Steam will not run a discount of this size. If we do, we will email everyone who opted in and say so, rather than quietly drop it. Nothing here affects your rights by law, and none of it is a contract to sell you the game at a particular price before the game is on sale.
Feedback and the forms
The feedback page is there for bugs, ideas and anything that confused you. Please send only what you are happy for us to read and keep, do not send passwords, payment details or anyone else’s personal information, and do not send anything unlawful, abusive or designed to harm.
If you send us an idea or a suggestion, we may use it to improve the game without owing you payment or a credit, and without that stopping you using your own idea yourself. We are not taking ownership of anything else you make.
Using the site fairly
Read it, share it, quote it. Please do not try to break it: no scraping at a rate that costs us money, no automated submissions to the forms, no attempt to reach parts of the site that are not public, and nothing that interferes with anyone else using it. We keep simple protections on the forms and may block a source that misuses them.
What is ours
The game, its name, artwork, screenshots, text and design are ours, and Golf: The Journey and its logo are trade marks of Slamships Ltd. You are welcome to share links and screenshots from this site to talk about the game, and the press kit has assets prepared for exactly that. You may not use them in a way that suggests we endorse something we do not, or pass them off as your own.
No warranty
The site is provided as it is. We do our best to keep it accurate and available, but we cannot promise either, and we are not liable for loss arising from your use of it beyond what the law does not allow us to exclude. We do not limit our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Nothing here limits any right you have by law as a consumer.
Other sites
Links to other services, such as Steam, the app stores and social networks, take you to sites with their own terms and privacy policies, which we do not control. How we handle your information is in our privacy policy, and what this site stores on your device, which is nothing, is on the cookies page.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; the date at the top says when. They are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and its courts may hear any dispute about them. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom you may also bring a claim in your own country’s courts, and you keep the protection of any law that cannot be set aside by agreement where you live.
